Burning down your house

Wearing T by Alexander Wang, Necklace by El Minara, Canon G12.

Tuesday 25th January saw 'The Jim Jones Revue' play a sideshow at The Metro for the 2011 Big Day Out!
Heres a chunk of a review written by Patrick Emery for The Brag that i thought made sense?

‘Burning Down Your House’ is replete with the whisky-laden spit and bile of Tom Waits stumbling drunk, deranged, depraved and deprived in a Memphis whorehouse, while ‘Elemental’ wanders out bleary-eyed into the street and finds itself whisked away for a manic drive down the freeway with a speed-addled Little Richard. ‘Killin’ Spree’ is first degree murder in its coolest, most swaggering guise, and on ‘Righteous Wrong’, The Jim Jones Revue highlight the slippery contradiction between right and wrong.

Spook House

Friday night we stopped in at Hardware Gallery in Enmore to witness some of the amazing work by Sydney based artist Steven Nuttall . This was Steven's first solo exhibition featuring both sculpture and print works - titled 'Spook House'

Also gracing us with their musical presence was an intimate performance by Ernest Ellis (Roland Ellis-Frontman/Guitar, Benjamin Morgan-Bass/Guitar, Mathew Gardner-Drums) They played some of there newer tracks including a song that they wrote that same day - new songs! Sounded good! Really Good!

Also, if your wondering what the cool film playing in the background is - see below.

GRINDERMAN 2

Did yesterday actually happen?
Apparently so... Australia Day in all its glory at the infamous Big Day Out! Sweltering heat, southern cross tattoos, huge crowds!

I was in the presence of greatness! - Iggy Pop (and the Stooges) and Grinderman(Nick Cave) definitely made it to the top of my favorite performances of all time! Grinderman was the last act of the day but seemingly I'm blogging about it first - Just look at them!
Rather than trying to write some trendy review, heres one from NME
Leaving you with lyrics from 'Grinderman 2 track - Palaces of Montezuma'
  "The Epic of Gilgamesh

A pretty little black A-line dress
I give to you
The spinal cord of JFK
Wrapped in Marilyn Monroe's negligee
I give to you
I want nothing in return
Just the softest little breathless word
I ask of you"

And if you made it to Big Day Out, I would love to know who your favorite artist was or the highlight of your day!

Open Road

Wearing Urban Outfitters top, vintage Levi shorts, Soles studded boots, Tom Ford sunglasses and Onyx crystal necklace.

I just pulled a few images from the archives from a road trip a few friends and i went on from Los Angeles to San Francisco in August last year.We ventured out on the open road in our hire car, to attend Outside Lands festival- a 2 day festival featuring The Strokes, Cat Power, Kings of Leon, Wildbeasts (my fav) Wolfmother, Phoenix(amazing) and heaps of other epic bands!
It was a very crazy week with not a lot of sleep involved! I feel like my love affair with a chicken taco with hot sauce also started in SF, or at least Elle and i found ourselves lingering in mexican restaurants til all hours of the morning. We even went to this club that played only dub and reggae and everyone was just puffing away on joints-not something were used to in Sydney right? San Fran is such an awesome place and il def be back there!
But for now the only road trip il be going on will be in my dreams! Photos taken at a pit stop somewhere out of Sacramento in 45 degree heat, by my very talented photographer friend / festival wingman Elle Green.
